Inspection and Disassembly
This is a Blanchard Model 32D-60 Rotary Surface Grinder as we received it. The first steps are to disassemble the machine down to the base castings. All pieces are thoroughly cleaned and inspected for wear
Saddle and Gearbox Disassembled
The gearboxes are disassembled and inspected for wear. All bearings and seals are replaced. The gears are checked for wear and repaired or replaced if necessary. At reassembly, the gearboxes are checked to insure they operate smoothly and quietly.
The saddle is removed and the mating wear surfaces are machined and/or scraped to insure these surfaces will provide "as new" tolerances when grinding. Way material (Turcite and Rulon) may be added to replace the material removed from these surfaces to insure correct alignment with adjoining surfaces. Primer and paint is applied before reassembly.
Remove Magnetic Chuck
The chuck is removed, turned over and the mating wear surfaces are scraped. Way material (Turcite and Rulon) may be added to replace the material removed from these surfaces to insure correct alignment with adjoining surfaces. Primer and paint is applied before reassembly.
Vertical Column Spindle Removed
The vertical column and spindle drive motor are removed and completely disassembled. The vertical column and the spindle housing mating wear surfaces are machined and/or scraped to insure these surfaces will provide "as new" tolerances when grinding. Way material (Turcite and Rulon) may be added to replace the material removed from these surfaces to insure correct alignment with adjoining surfaces.
Spindle Drive Motor
The spindle drive motor is disassembled. All components are cleaned and inspected for damage. The motor windings are tested, recoated and baked. If the windings are damaged or do not pass testing the motor is rewound. The spindle bearings are replaced and primer and paint is applied before reassembly.
Machining the Base
The base ways are machined and the base is cleaned and primer is applied. Reassembly begins with the vertical column attached to the base and aligned. Both horizontal and vertical way surfaces have been reconditioned and primer has been applied.
Prepare Small Components
Small components painted and prepared for reassembly. Coolant pumps, table and spindle feed motors are tested and replaced if necessary.
Spindle Drive Installation
Rebuilt Spindle Drive mounted. New guards are fabricated and mounted on the Grinder. New electrical wiring is installed.
The Finished Product
A Blanchard Model 32-60 Rotary Surface Grinder ready to grind parts.
